Minesweeper is not a luck game (except the first click). It's a logic deduction puzzle where every number is a clue.
Each number indicates how many mines are in the 8 adjacent cells. A "1" means exactly one mine nearby. A "3" means three mines nearby. If a cell with "1" already has a flagged mine next to it, all other adjacent cells are safe.
When you see the sequence 1-2-1 along an edge, the mine for the "2" is always in the cell shared by both "1s." It's the most frequent pattern in the game.
If a number already has all its mines identified (adjacent flags equal the number), you can safely open all remaining cells around it. Many games let you do this with double-click or middle-click.
Corners reveal more information. A corner with "0" opens a large area. Always start from a corner or the center to maximize the initial opening.
Sometimes Minesweeper presents genuine 50/50 situations (especially on edges). Don't get frustrated — it's part of the game. Choose and move on.
